He received his early education in Washington, DC, continued his studies at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and continues to study at the University of the District of Columbia in educational studies, having earned himself a spot on the Dean's List. In 1995 and 1997 he ran for the indoor, outdoor National Championship track team. Himself a graduate of STRIVE DC, he relates to and provides an example for younger participants.
At STRIVE DC Leon teaches participants how to effectively market themselves to secure gainful employment. He thinks in terms of job advancement and careers for the long term. As a facilitator in bi-weekly workshops for youth aged 17-24, he inspires them to build career goals and at the same time prepares them for pressures of obtaining and maintaining employment. He leads participants towards the "winning resume", at the same time carefully matching job opportunities to individual people. His skills, developed through more than a dozen training-workshops, are a significant aspect of STRIVE DC's consistent placement and retention rates.
