The Gruha Jyothi Yojana is a government of Karnataka scheme that was launched in 2023 to provide 200 units free electricity to rural households.Under this scheme, 90% of the cost of a household electricity connection is subsidized by the government.

The goal of the Gruh Jyoti Yojana is to provide equal access to the benefits of electricity to rural households.Under this Gruha jyothi scheme, households in rural areas are provided with electricity connections for domestic use.The cost of the connection is subsidized by the government, with the beneficiary only having to pay 10% of the cost.

In addition to the above, the following conditions may also apply:

Tenant: Tenants can also apply for the scheme, even if the electricity meter is in the landlord’s name.

Non-Residents: Non-residents who are residing in Karnataka can also apply for the scheme.
